For each of these routes we have options of different lengths and styles.
If the term STAGE confuses you, it simply indicates that in the proposal the accommodation is always the same. In other words, all the stages start from the same hotel where we stayed.
If you want to extend your vacation, you can combine different STAGES until you achieve the desired number of days.

El Valle de LA SAKANA aparece en las fotos aereas que aconstumbramos a visualizar cuando preparamos un viaje de montaña, como una profunda cicatriz que atraviesa horizontalmente la zona noroeste de Navarra.
Las sierras que dan forma al Valle son el escenario de las etapas de este BIKE STAGE. Esta son; Aralar y Altzania en el norte, y Andia y Urbasa en el sur. El denominador común de todas ellas es el de ser una geografía de media montaña con carácter fuertemente pastoríl que combina bosques y prados.
Tendrémos la oportunidad de recorrer 3 zonas bastante bien diferenciadas.

Zona 1: Sierra de Aralar
Majadas pastoriles de Pikuta.

Zona 2: Sierras de Andia-Urbasa
La estrella del Valle de La Sakana es el Pico Beriain que con sus 1.495 metros de altitud es una de las montañas ciclables más elevadas y emblemáticas de Navarra.
En la foto inferior, la montaña rellena el horizonte detras de los ciclistas. En este caso, una cima de las que no se olvidan.
Constantes sube-bajas por lo alto de la Sierra de Andia
Un descanso en el camino y ermita de San Donato, ya en la cima del Beriain.
Comienza el descenso, cada loca con su tema.
Aforunadamente, todo lo que sube baja, descenso hacia Lizarraga.
Arboles "invernales" en la Sierra de Urbasa, la "estrella" del día.
Pistas de gravel en la llegada al Alto de Lizarraga, punto de descanso "oficial" de la ruta.
Cueva de Lubierri, rincones ocultos en la ruta.

Zona 3: Sierra de Altzania - Valle de La Sakana
El sendero de Los Robles Milenarios da la bienvenida a la etapa por la Sierra de Altzania.
Túmulo dolménico en lo alto de la Sierra de Altzania.
Dolmen de Intxusburu en la cima del mismo nombre. Comienza un bello descenso hacia Altsasu. Hacia el oeste la característica silueta de la Sierra de Aizkorri delimita el paisaje.
Así muere una estrella, Impresionante vestigio de Roble Milenario en la senda que lleva ese nombre.

- Ideal bike: The Stages are offered for different types of MTB, so obviously the ideal bike will be the one that best suits the style you choose.
- Best time to go: The route can be done once the snow disappears in the highest mountains of the route. From there, we dare not say that one era is better than another. It really depends on the specific weather of the days we choose.
Do not underestimate the weather, not even in the middle of summer. The conditions -especially in the Pyrenees- can be identical to those of the Central Pyrenees. To summarize... our advice is: bring even the long culotte and if it doesn´t come out from the suitcase, all the better.
In summer it is necessary to be aware of the possibility of storms -frequent in the afternoons-. - Orientation: The route must be followed with a GPS device or with the mobile phone App that you are used to using for the same purpose.
It is not advisable to try to learn how to use an App on the fly.
We do not provide Apps or GPS user manuals. It is up to the users to have this knowledge.
There is no on-site signage. - Provisioning: In most of the stages we will find towns with water and other services without too many difficulties. However, there may be exceptions to take into account.
- Philosophy: The philosophy of the route is to make "sport bicycle touring" but trying that at the end of the day there is still enough energy for something else besides resting until dinner. This is done to allow us at the end to have enough time to be able to learn - even slightly - where we are.

In these proposals when the groups are odd, the accommodation is offered in double rooms and a single room.

If you want the price of the Pack to be cheaper, perhaps we can lower the level of one of the chosen hotels. And also, if the number of participants is odd; request a triple room.

The prices may vary when the dates coincide with the Easter holidays or with the Patron Festivities of any of the places of accommodation.

If possible, we will try to help you in case of a breakdown, but in many situations this help can be very limited due to lack of specific spare parts or other circumstances. Taking into account that most of the users have their own vehicle at the STAGE point, we have considered it interesting to leave open the possibility of not "forcing" you to have dinner at the assigned hotel.

General information about the MTB Forests of Navarra BIKE STAGES
The BIKE STAGES Forests of Navarra are a series of MTB Circular Routes - starting and ending in the same hotel - for pedaling through some of the most emblematic sites of the NAVARRE PYRENEES.
The common denominator of all of them is the great wooded mass and the mountain meadows that are interspersed in a sequence -forest/meadow- that will not leave us at any time.
The territories included -all of them in the north of Navarra- are, among others, the Urbasa - Andia Range and the unknown Lokiz in the North. The Aralar Range and the regions of Basaburua and Baztan in the center, and the forests of Quinto Real, Roncesvalles and the Irati Forest in the East.
The PIRINEOS PUNTO BIKE proposal to visit the area is, broadly speaking, a Self-Guided route pack which includes Accommodation, a Map -sketch- of each day´s route, the Tracks of the route for devices GPS, and -most importantly- Counseling on which are the best route options for each day of the STAGE based on your cyclist profile.
The level of demand of the routes -we always talk about MTB routes- is on average what we could call Medium / High level, with all the nuances that said definition hides, and without entering except for rare and warned exceptions in the field of Enduro.
