When the geography is generous and allows interesting routes combining a circular route with an online route, we stay 2 nights in each of the hotels on the route.
This results in less hustle for both participants and hoteliers and in a lower cost of the luggage transport service and therefore of the Pack when the number of participants is low.

This route takes place between the cliffs of the Sierra de Cantabria and Montaña Alavesa in the North and the pine groves and forests of the Sierras de Cameros and La Demanda in the South.
In the middle; The Rioja. Infinite vineyards, designer wineries, monumental villas saturated with history and the backbone of the Ebro in the center feeding everything.
The road bike proposals go up the slopes of the mountains that surround La Rioja, ascending some of the most emblematic and hardest mountain passes in the region such as Moncalvillo and Herrera.
The options for trekking or gravel bikes articulate most of their kilometers along the small roads, tracks and paths, expanding like a mesh throughout the Ebro basin.
The route can be summarized as an uninterrupted sequence of villas, wineries, vineyards and meanders that claim all of them and at all times their indisputable uniqueness.

We label some of our Packs this way when we add Gastronomic Experiences to them, substituting the standard dinner normally included in the hotel´s half-board regime.
The catering establishments -usually different from the hotel where we stay- have been carefully chosen to complement the sporting aspect of the route with gastronomic proposals similar in all aspects to those we choose for our LUXURY category Tours.

The territory of our stage A has come to be known literarily as Riberia, an imaginary but real "country", half Navarre and half Rioja, with a common culture and lifestyles arising from the vital potential that the Ebro River emanates and that forms and gives its own character to the life of its banks.
In the sporting aspect, a rolling stage with short ascents - never important - that will activate our legs just enough to face the slopes of the coming stages.
In the vicinity of Logroño the Ebro is already a lonely river.
At the same time that it divides the geography giving rise to Navarra and La Rioja, the Ebro unifies it and thus the imaginary Riberia arises.

With Clavijo Mountain pass to "warm up" and the 1,475 meters of altitude of Moncalvillo (948 unevenness) to "finish off", this stage B is without a doubt the Queen stage of FUENTES del VINO - LAGUARDIA.
After the long descent to the lowest point of the stage on the bridge over the Ebro in Lapuebla de Labarca, we must still have saved some energy to ascend to the end of the stage at the top where the walled town of Laguardia sits majestically.

The pine forests will be our companions during the ascent to Moncalvillo. Today we face one of the hardest ports - if not the hardest - in La Rioja, 948 meters of unevenness and 239 points of APM coefficient.

Stage D: Laguardia - Logroño
Distance: 82 km Unevenness: 1.285 m

Distance: 158 km Unevenness: 2.445 m
Stage with a differentiated personality due to the character that permeates the Montaña Alavesa. Once we have passed the demanding mountain pass of Herrera we enter a different world in which we substitute vineyards for beech and oak groves.
Having started the stage in Rioja Alavesa, a good part of its kilometers pass through the neighboring Community of Navarra, and when we reach the end of the stage in Logroño, we will be in the capital of La Rioja. Thus, we will visit 3 Autonomous Communities in which we will have distributed the 82 kilometers of route.

It is also possible that on certain dates or days of the week some of the establishments may be closed or perhaps full, so having more alternatives guarantees the availability of reservations.
LOGROÑO - TONDELUNA
TONDELUNA is a modern, informal and fun place that has prepared a FUENTES del VINO menu to introduce cyclists of the route to some of the secrets of modern Riojan cuisine.
LOGROÑO - LA GALERÍA
LA GALERÍA is a space with minimalist architecture whose walls periodically house traveling exhibitions of painting artists, filling the space with art and color.
The menu FUENTES del VINO menu consists of a tasting always adapted to the season in which we visit the city, and we leave it in the hands of José Félix Rodríguez, a cook who trained at the Santo Domingo School and then continued to cultivate and develop his art in houses like Arzak, Martín Berasategui, Koldo Royo, Aitor Basabe and Ferrán Adriá.
LAGUARDIA - CALAO MAYOR DE MIGUELOA
Palacio de Viana, 17th century, Nobility and Tradition... uninterrupted winemaking tradition since 1690, absolute winner by public votes in the Best Of awards People´s Choice Award 2.023, and production of their own wines in their cellar/calao, a space that will also be our restaurant....
We have not needed more, the curriculum shown in the previous paragraph has been enough to make us incorporate without any doubt its owner in the list of Gastronomic Experiences that shape FUENTES del VINO - LAGUARDIA.

LAGUARDIA - CUEVA DE LOBOS
Embedded between the stones of the wall is the "cave" that we have chosen for one of our Gastronomic Experiences in LAGUARDIA.
We think that it should have been called "Pirates Cave" more than wolves cave -if you visit it you will understand why- but if in 1933 when it was inaugurated they decided that it should be "Wolves ", of wolves remains.
The forcefulness of the opinion of some of our clients; in the style of "the best restaurant of our trip through La Rioja" reaffirms our belief that sometimes there are factors that escape the "stars" and "suns" of the dominant gastronomic classifications.
With a warm environment, one of those that introduces you to another time, the "only drawback" that we can cite is its authentic cave format, something that makes it difficult for us to accommodate our bikers when they make up a large group. For the rest, in terms of restoration, the watchword is listen to the "pirates" who serve us and let ourselves be carried away by their recommendations; Local products in the dishes, paired with the best possible selection of wines from always local wineries.
LAGUARDIA - CALAO BIAZTERI
Located inside the walls of the town, the terms Solera and Tradition are those that define the Gastronomic Experience CALAO BIAZTERI FUENTES del VINO - LAGUARDIA.
In your hands -and perhaps in those of the weather- will remain the decision of where to experience the Tasting Menu expressly conceptualized for this proposal. You will therefore have to decide if you descend to the naturally thermoregulated grotte/cellar currently converted into a dining room, or if you are more attracted to the outdoor terrace.
In either case on the plates; Tasting of Traditional Riojan food of the season paired by the glass with wines made in the wineries located outside the walls of the Villa of LAGUARDIA.

CULINARY BIKE TOUR
Our PUNTO BIKE in LOGROÑO, is set in the Hotel GRAN VÍA, the best choice in town if we need to blend lodge and BIKE.
We speak about a 4-star establishment well sited in the center of the town and strongly involved in a large part of the sports and gastronomic activities linked to LOGROÑO.
Our PUNTO BIKE in LAGUARDIA in the old Palacio de Viana, a space rehabilitated as a hotel, absolute winner by public votes in the Best Of Wine Tourism 2023 awards, and in addition to that, located within the walls of the town of LAGUARDIA.. We are talking about the Posada Mayor de Migueloa which, in addition to accommodation, will provide us with one of the most relevant Gastronomic Experiences in our trip.
Our second alternative in LAGUARDIA, in this case, outside the walls, is the Hotel VILLA de LAGUARDIA, a 4-star establishment located among vineyards, with a rewarding spa, and totally specialized in receiving cyclists and their bicycles.

- Best time to go: The route can be done at any time of the year as long as there is no snow, something unusual in La Rioja.
Spring and Autumn are usually the most pleasant seasons; in Summer it can be very hot and we must take more precautions. - Philosophy: The tour is designed so that the stages can be completed and we still have a large part of the day to enjoy the place where we are.
However, if you want more hardness, all stages have their PLUS option. - Provisioning: La Rioja is not a desert. We will find towns with water and other services without too many difficulties.
